A Wrap up of Collection 18

Collection 18
Emily Guck

Collection 18 is one of the premier leaders in the fashion accessories department. As a company they design, brand and license fashion accessories such as hats, printed scarves, outerwear, cold weather accessories and shoes. Our meeting took place with Rachel, the creative director, and Ella, a cold weather designer. Rachel is a painter and printed textile expert and has always designed scarves and accessories. Ella has an educational focus on knitwear apparel design.
As a company, there are both private labels and branded licenses. The private labels include Glitz and Free Spirit. Glitz focuses on the more classic/formal pieces, where as Free Spirit is more bohemian. Branded labels span from BCBG and Vince Camuto, to Kensie and Nine West.  The Collection 18 scarves and accessories can be found in various retailers at a range of price points.

Where to Buy:

Collection 18 strives to stay current on consumer preferences and current trends. This fall the collections will focus on the following trends: Humble, Celestial and Classic. Humble is prevalent in the cold weather accessories. The color palette is neutral, is reminiscent of the yoga lifestyle and ‘goes with everything.’ Celestial incorporates the stars, astrological signs and metallic details. The classic trend has traditional holiday colors, patterns and fabrics. The Collection 18 designers use European fashion and the Ready-to-Wear lines to pinpoint and inspire trends. The designers create trend books to communicate big ideas and inspiration. They strive to ensure that the pieces within each collection are not only cohesive with each other, but are also complementary to the licensed brand collection and consumers.
