New York Embroidery Studio Tour

New York Embroidery Studio Tour
Monday, May 23rd, 2016

Our third appointment today was at the New York Embroidery Studio. Walking into the studio after spending the morning at quiet, organized offices (The Row & Gap) was quite a change of pace. The studio was packed from corner to corner with machines both new and old capable of everything from saddle stitching to laser engraving to screen printing. Every table, wall, and even parts of the floor were covered in endless selections of threads, sequins, yarns, ribbons, and beads in every color imaginable.  The studio was an organized chaos, bustling with workers yelling to each other across the room. Our guide walked us through each machine, most of which were currently in use. It was amazing to see all of the work going on for so many high end name brand designers. I even watched hats being embroidered that I recently saw in a post by one of my favorite street style bloggers. A whiteboard on the wall listed all the jobs currently in the works for Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, and so many more. The studio exceeded my expectations, and has definitely been one of my favorite appointments so far!
